Ag. Commissioner Fried visits Fort Myers to talk about clean water initiative


FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried is visiting Fort Myers on Monday to discuss the department’s clean water initiative.

Following a boat tour with Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation CEO Ryan Orgera, Environmental Policy Director James Evans and Marine Laboratory Director Dr. Eric Milbrandt, Fried will hold a news conference at the Punta Rassa boat ramp at 10 a.m.

She will be discussing the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Office of Agricultural Water Policy Clean Water Initiative. Fried will also speak about harmful algal blo0oms impacting local waters, including red tide and blue-green algae.

The commissioner will also give a brief COVID-19 update.

Fried’s visit to Fort Myers is part of a three-day tour that includes Sarasota, Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Stuart.
