JAMMU, Oct 12: Senior Congress leader, Sumeet Magotra today raised the issue of potable water scarcity of Udhampur district, here today.
It was disclosed by him along with others during a press conference, wherein he castigated the role of Union Ministers who are on tour of J&K to assess the problems of a common man.
He alleged that about 70 Ministers of the Union Government of India have toured the J&K UT to assess the grievances of people but it is very unfortunate that their trip is not more than a tourist trip and they seemed least bothered to listen to the problems of rural people.
“From the last several months, the people of Udhampur district are facing severe water scarcity and irregular water supply by the PHE Department,” he said and adding that however, the department concerned has sent a project of Rs 90 crores for maintaining regular water supply of the hilly district but unfortunately, the project is still biting dust in the cupboard of the Secretariat since long time and the concerned Member Parliament, Dr Jitendra Singh seems least bothered about it.
The Congress leader demanded immediate approval of the drinking water project of Rs 90 crores for the redressal of potable water scarcity in the Udhampur district.
Rajesh Khajuria, Amit Tadyal and Sam Sharma were also present during the event.
