Leaky water valve repaired at far East Side intersection

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A leaky water valve at a busy far East El Paso intersection has been repaired, El Paso County said in a news release on Tuesday, April 16.

The repairs of a “critical water valve” were completed at the intersection of Pellicano Drive and Mission Ridge Boulevard.

The repairs took two days and addressed a leak that was reported on Friday, April 12.

The repair work was done in conjunction with El Paso Water, the County said.

Work on the intersection will continue for the next two weeks, the County added.

“The leak is believed to have been caused by the natural deterioration of the valve, due to its age and the possible deterioration of the valve seals. The EPWU’s swift response ensured that water service remained uninterrupted for residents and businesses. Currently, EPWU and County crews are working on reconstructing the section of roadway that was saw cut to access the valve. Motorists should expect adjustments to travel lanes at the affected intersection over the next 7 to 14 days,” the County said in its news release.
