MANSEHRA: The prolonged power outages and low voltage have caused water scarcity in parts of the district.

The residents of Mansehra and its suburbs, Shinkiari, Khaki and other parts of the district face water shortages because of prolonged loadshedding and low voltages. “The heavy power outages and low voltage have led to an acute water shortage. We will come onto the streets to lodge our protest if the situation is not changed,” Mohammad Bashir, a local said.

He said the federal government had announced to bring prolonged power outages down but to no avail.“The water supply has been affected owing to low voltage and electricity suspension in the city and its suburbs,” he complained.

Another local Abdul Waheed said commercial and domestic electricity consumers were paying electricity utility bills regularly but even then the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company resorted to prolonged loadshedding.

“The low voltage is also one of the major causes of the water scarcity in parts of the district,” he explained. The people of Shinkiari and its suburbs, too, complained of water scarcity, saying they couldn’t operate machines due to frequent power outages and low voltage.
