Temporary Changes to the Taste and Smell of Evansville Water Supplies Coming Soon

Starting in mid-August Evansville Water customers may notice a slight change to the odor or their tap water.

For seven weeks the Evansville Water & Sewer Utility will switch to disinfectant in the water treatment process to ensure the delivery of high-quality and safe drinking water.

The switch to free chlorine from the regularly used disinfectant chloramine will begin Monday, August 16, and continues until October 4.

Officials say this preventive maintenance is a common practice used to keep water mains clean and free of harmful bacteria throughout the year.
