Here are some 2021 climate statistics from around northern and central Arizona. 2021 was much wetter than 2020 and brought welcome relief to most of the drought-stricken region. You’ll also find some maps showing 2021 total precipitation for population centers below.
2021 was the 34th wettest season for Prescott with 5.69 inches of more precipitation than normal. Flagstaff experienced an additional 5.12 inches of rain making it Flagstaff’s 23rd wettest season while Payson saw 5.86 inches of rain making it Payson’s 14th wettest season. These departures from normal are calculated from a 30 year normal using the 1990-2020 period. According to the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, the Prescott Region is showing a 1 Class Improvement according to the U.S. drought monitor map.
