- The City of Tampa’s transportation department has been accused of discrimination against working mothers. The complaints stem from the mobility department at the city, which is led by Vik Bhide. One fired employee has also filed complaints on gender and familial status with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Florida Commission on Human Relations, according to Tampa Bay Business Journal. - Hillsborough County Aging Services offers residents in the area adult day services at several locations, including the Bloomingdale Adult Day Care Center, located at 3940 Canoga Park Drive in Brandon. The services are for residents aged 60 or older with decreased physical, mental or social function. Locations are also in Plant City and Tampa. - A Florida man proposed to his high school sweetheart at Tampa International Airport this past weekend after 60 years of meeting, in a viral video on TikTok. The video has over 347,000 likes on TikTok. He told her, “You have always been the one I had a crush on since your cheerleader days. Strings me a smile to my face and makes my heart skip a beat.” (WTSP)
- The University of South Florida (USF) is closing down The Claw at USF Golf Course on Sept. 5. USF President Rhea Law said the golf course was losing $200,000 annually, according to an e-mail. Activists are concerned the university will use the land for development. (WUSF)
